How much does a smart home cost?
It depends on the package and your property. Our Bronze package starts at an accessible price point for basic lighting automation, while Gold covers the full smart home experience. Book a consultation and we'll provide a detailed quote based on your specific needs.
How long does installation take?
Typically 1–3 days depending on the package and property size. Bronze installs are often completed in a day, while Gold installations for larger homes may take 2–3 days.
Do I need new wiring?
It depends on your home. Many devices (sensors, cameras, smart plugs) are wireless. Smart switches typically replace existing switches and may require neutral wire — our consultation will identify exactly what's needed.
What happens if the internet goes down?
Your smart home keeps working. Home Assistant runs locally in your home, so core automations (lighting, climate, security) work without internet. Only cloud-dependent features like voice assistants are affected.
What is Home Assistant?
Home Assistant is an open-source smart home platform that runs locally on a dedicated device in your home. It supports thousands of devices and integrations, has no subscription fees, and keeps your data private. It's the most capable and flexible smart home platform available.
Can I control everything from my phone?
Yes. The Home Assistant companion app (iOS and Android) gives you full control from anywhere. You can also use wall-mounted tablets, voice assistants, and of course — your normal light switches still work.
Will my existing switches still work?
Absolutely. This is one of our core principles — we never remove or disable manual controls. Every light switch works exactly as it did before. Smart features are added on top.
Is my data safe?
Yes. Home Assistant runs locally in your home. Your camera footage, automation data, and personal information stay on your device — not in someone else's cloud. No data is shared with or sold to third parties.
What's included in the warranty?
Every installation includes a 12-month workmanship warranty covering our installation and configuration work. Hardware is covered by manufacturer warranties. For ongoing protection against platform updates and integration changes, we offer maintenance plans.
Do I need a maintenance plan?
We strongly recommend it. Home Assistant is actively developed, and we manage updates on a controlled schedule so things don't break. Without a plan, we advise contacting us before applying any updates.
Can I start small and add more later?
Absolutely. Every installation is designed to grow. Start with Bronze and upgrade to Silver or Gold whenever you're ready — no rework required.
Do you service my area?
We service the Sunshine Coast (Noosa to Caloundra) and Brisbane metro.
What brands do you use?
We use open-standard devices — primarily Zigbee and Matter compatible. Brands include Aqara, SONOFF, IKEA, Philips Hue, Reolink, and others. We test and approve every device before recommending it.
Can you integrate with Google Home or Alexa?
Yes. Home Assistant integrates with both Google Home and Amazon Alexa for voice control. These are optional additions — your system works perfectly without them.
